Chapter 1, Teaser

on .

The air was sharp cold with a taste of smoke. Every breath was heavy, almost painful and the smell of burned rubber and metal was becoming more intense. The room was dark with a long glass wall uncovering the night outside. The green of the water was reflecting through the thick glass in broken lines, like a satin veil fluttering in the wind. Silence. Not even her breathing was interrupting the serenity of the large empty room with a pile of wires, metal & torn silicone lying scrambled on the white marble floor. The green shimmers of the water were reflecting from the glass wall onto her wide sharp blade and then from there onto her pale lilac skin making the sweat look like drops of ocean water.

She looked at the pile of junk in front of her with a satisfied grin on her face while she was still trying to catch her breath. This one was better… they’re getting good at it, finally! A much better challenge tonight! Her dark eyes looked up at the water, through the protective glass. Even though it was dark outside, due to the late hour, she could still distinguish the plants on the other side of the room, swaying in the slow waves. The calm of her private garden offered her temporary relaxation many times before, but now, after this training session, the movement of the algae outside were not really calming her senses. She found them rather distracting whilst trying to concentrate on each and every move this new android was making. Just like she was trained for many years, she was calculating his every intention, every reaction, so that she could prepare a counter attack before he could even flinch. Thirty minutes was longer than all previous sessions and she was pleased that she had finally found an improved model of battle androids to test and to call a worthy training opponent.

Her short black hair was wet and her entire slim yet muscular body was covered in sweat. She liked the sensation of the wet seaweed singlet sticking to her pale lilac skin. This singlet and short tight pants offered no protection in combat, however it was the closest she could get to feeling as free as possible in her movements during training without actually being naked. She finally drops the blade which resembled a short sword from her childhood story books. She would sometimes use guns, chains even her bare hands, but she always favored blades for some reason. The knife gloves were some of her most used training weapons. It reminded her of the sharp claws of some of the feline animals she once read about in her history classes when she was a young girl.

She turned towards the door behind her and pressing a button on the command panel she opened it to step in the well-lit corridor outside.

“Arrange for two of them tomorrow night! I wanna see what they’re really capable of when they communicate with each other to fight as a team”

“Sure my lady!” said the woman standing outside the door in the corridor, keeping her head down the whole time while entering the training room to clean up the mess.
